We woke up at 5:30 this morning to be out of bed by 5:45. It looked like a bonny day despite the bad forecast. After we had a shower, a good breakfast and were ready to go, the heavens opened. We set off from Kendal just south of the Lake District to Penrith in what can only be described as torrential rains.

From Penrith to Carlisle the conditions improved slightly, so we are hoping to get a good run north this afternoon. We are all pretty tired and the rain has made life quite difficult. We are however covering the miles at a steady pace.
